Walderslade

Originally a small village, Walderslade, meaning ‘wood in a valley’, is now a large suburb in the Medway Towns on the edge of the North Downs. The original village is now the commercial centre of the area where you’ll find Greyfox, a Co-op supermarket, Sherwood Oak public house, public library and a variety of other small businesses, restaurants and so on. On the outer edges of the area you’ll find the Alexandra Hospital and the Bridgewood Manor Hotel. Walderslade is divided into a number of separate developments called Lords Wood, Princes Park, Walderslade Woods, Davis Estate, Weedswood and the Wayfield Estate with a variety of property for sale or rent in each. Transport links in the area include junction 3 of the M2 and junction 6 of the M20 which give access to the Channel Tunnel, M25, Dartford Bridge and Central London. Chatham station offers rail links into the City whilst Ebbsfleet International, with high-speed services to St. Pancras, is only a short journey by car.

Chatham

Established by Queen Elizabeth I as a Royal Dockyard in 1568, Chatham’s history is intertwined with that of the Navy and shipbuilding with many vessels including HMS Victory being launched there. The expansion of the yard and the centuries of castle, fort and barracks construction led to huge growth in the area and the expansion of the Medway Towns in general. The Dockyard is now Chatham Historic Dockyard, with St Mary’s Island now housing a marina and residential developments. Rainham

Located on the ancient Watling Street, the Roman road between London and Canterbury, Rainham is located with the M2 running along its southern edge with links to the M25, M20 and onto Ebbsfleet International, Ashford International and Central London. Areas within the locality include Parkwood, Hempstead, Twydall, Lower Rainham and Wigmore. The town offers a variety of shops, restaurants and businesses in addition to the nearby Hempstead Valley shopping centre. The area boasts a number of historic buildings with the beautiful St Margaret’s Church as a striking centrepiece of Gothic and earlier architecture. The birthplace of Will Adams, the first ever Western Samurai, Gillingham offers a varied housing stock and a number of major attractions in the area including Priestfields stadium, the home of Gillingham FC, Strand leisure and water park, Ice Rink, Medway Park Leisure Centre, Riverside country park and the Royal Engineers Museum. Located on the Roman road of Watling Street the town has good links to the A2, M2, M20 and M25 with rail links into Charing Cross and St. Pancras from Gillingham station. Rochester
